Issues we are working on

In the period 2020-2024, the ESE Association will work on the following priorities:

HEALTHCARE FOR WOMEN, MOTHERS AND CHILDREN, RURAL COMMUNITIES AND ROMA

We work on promoting health and access to healthcare for women, mothers and children, and vulnerable groups of citizens, by building capacity of civil society organizations and educating the population, and by facilitating their direct engagement in monitoring of health policies, programs and services and their participation in advocacy for promotion of healthcare for the population.

HEALTHCARE COSTING AND BUDGETING

We work on improving adequate healthcare budgeting and spending by continuous monitoring of health budgets, assessing the impact of macroeconomic policies on health budgets, and by building capacity of civil society organization to apply budget monitoring methodologies and to advocate for exercise of the right to health.

EMPLOYABILITY AND ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

We work on economic empowerment of women by educating women about employment opportunities, ensuring their direct involvement in evaluation of available employment services, and by building capacity of civil society organizations to mobilize and engage citizens in decision-making processes.

PARALEGAL AND LEGAL ASSISTANCE FOR POOR AND VULNERABLE GROUPS OF CITIZENS

We work on improving access to justice among vulnerable groups of citizens by promoting legal empowerment, building capacity of civil society organization to provide paralegal assistance and support, and by engaging in joint advocacy to address specific problems of the association’s beneficiary groups.

DATA COLLECTION ON ACCESS TO JUSTICE

We work on gathering evidence to facilitate access to justice by facilitating direct consultations with women and other vulnerable group of citizens about their specific needs, but also about the needs of civil society organizations providing legal aid to these communities.

ACTION AND PROTECTION AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

We work on improving legal protection of women who have suffered violence by providing them direct support to address problems they are facing, and by implementing activities to promote legislation and actions related to domestic violence protection taken by competent institutions and judicial bodies.

FISCAL TRANSPARENCY AND GOVERNANCE

We work on increasing fiscal transparency of public institutions by assessing their performance in respect to transparency, implementing public awareness campaigns on benefits of fiscal transparency, and by forming a network of civil society organizations within the Open Government Partnership.
